Blizzard a anunţat cu mândrie că cel de-al treilea expansion pentru World of Warcraft a stabilit un nou record de vânzări. Cataclysm, lansat în data de 7 decembrie, s-a vândut în 3.3 milioane de exemplare în primele 24 de ore de la lansare. Astfel, a depăşit recordul de 2.8 milioane de unităţi înregistrat de expansion-ul anterior, Wrath of the Lich King.Mike Morhaime, CEO Blizzard: "We had to bring Azeroth to the brink of destruction in Cataclysm, but the result was our best expansion yet. We want to thank all of our new, existing, and returning players throughout the world for their incredible enthusiasm and support, and we look forward to hearing what they think about all the new content."
